Things….

Busy busy busy per usual though I have managed to pare down my list of obligations quite a bit. What are you doing tomorrrow? Nothing? Well in that case, come to 18th and Red in Adams Morgan for some fashion and shopping and drinks.

Then tomorrow let’s all head to Tryst (just across the street) for Liz Gorman’s pho – to show. Would be good for you to take in some tea and culture before your weekend of debauchery which we all know begins on Thursday night…

In an ideal world I will see the cherry blossoms at some point over the weekend between trips to the studio and visits with VIF (very important friends). Happy BIRTHDAY to Kathleen and special shout out to Roger who is down visiting from BK. This should be a good one if I don’t collapse amidst all the action. :)

Bored of Trade declared SMASHING SUCCESS!

Bored of Trade is sure to be one of the major highlights of my 2009 (and it’s only March!). Everyone was receptive, warm, wonderful and I sold a boat load of jewelry to boot! Thank you to everyone who helped make the event possible and to everyone who attended. Most importantly thank you to Lindsay Hart for coming up with a brilliant idea and turning that idea into something truly special. Rumor has it there will be more Bored of Trade events very very soon so stay tuned!

Yup, that’s me standing next to my vintage rack. Those are my hats decorating the snack area behind me!

Check out this post  from LISTOPAD on the event in case you missed it!

Bored of Trade – TOMORROW…!

Sooooooo, the countdown begins, one more day (good gawd!) until Bored of Trade. I spent last night gushing over vintage goodies (some of mine, many of Lindsay’s), helping with setup and lining some of the 60 drawers of my library catalog with wallpaper.

Yup, that’s project #2. I purchased a library card catalog a few weeks ago and get this – it’s from the county where I went to public school. I guess it was fate. Well, eventually I intend to use it for storage in my home studio. That’s a larger project I’m working on which will hopefully include a jewelry bench, crafting supply storage, a photo area and an inspiration board or two. The goals are two fold. As things get busier with crafting, jewelry classes and vintage, the need for a more efficient workspace becomes greater. Also, I’d like to get my things out of the living room (foyer, dining room, kitchen, etc etc) so that the “living” space in my home is more, well, livable! … I digress… but seriously folks, this card catalog is AMAZING! Even if you’re not into vintage at all, or jewelry for that matter, please come to see my card catalog. I do love it so and you will too!

The last point I’m going to make in this post, is that Lindsay Hart (aka lindso, aka flowerhead vintage) is awesome. Read her blog (and leave comments). Buy her stuff. Tell her you love her. Give her a hug! If you see her out and about, buy this girl a drink, give her cookies and coffee. Because, she is so amazing, inspiring for people like me, and maybe you too?! Please let her know that what she is bringing to the DC community with Bored of Trade is extra special. It’s just the sort of thing this stogy town needs, like air and rain and all those other good things. Okay, stepping down from soap box now… but I may make a t-shirt in her honor very soon…. :)

Announcing…!

So, I have been busy, yes. I haven’t posted much, this is true. I promised announcements and here’s the first! My lovely friend Lindsay is a ‘do-er’ much like myself and she has taken it upon herself to throw a basement sale of a party for vintage-y things AND it’s NEXT SATURDAY!!!

I’m super excited and busy getting things ready. Of course, I will be selling all new jewelry at her event, but I’ll also be selling some vintage clothing – which is new for me. I know, I know, as if I needed to add anything to my already overflowing plate. Well, I love vintage clothing, actually I’m addicted to buying it, and I need a way to unload some great stuff (because there is literally no more room in my house) and I think it’s something I would enjoy selling maybe more on the regular, so here goes.

Also, check out the awesome flyer for the event for more detaillllz!

Also, did I mention I’ll be making cupcakes? Well I will, lots and lots of cupcakes!

The Leisure Society

Debut LP, The Sleeper, out March 30th.

Feeling like staying in, wrapping myself in a blanket, reading an old, old book and listening to this till… well till I feel like getting up again which might not be for awhile, and that’s okay with me.

Detektivbyrån

Last night I fell asleep to Detektivbyrån (both albums) on repeat. My ears have found a new obsession…. something akin to falling in love.

Have a listen:  Nattoppet

I <3 their logo big time, which is not at all related to their music…

Also, I realize that my posting has been irregular of late. I’m working on some new projects. There will be announcements. I’m excited. :)
