For those of you lovely folks who attended the now legendary Bored of Trade March 2009, you know that along with my jewelry line (that term still sounds funny to me), jules and juniper, I also sold vintage clothing and accessories under the name, J2 Vintage. Selling vintage, online and in a boutique is something that I have been thinking about and tinkering with over the past 9 months or so. My friends know that I’ve had an interest in vintage and thrifting and fashion for a very long time. Much longer in fact, than the amount of time I have been thinking about (and tinkering with :)) jewelry. Not that one is more important than the other. In fact, I put vintage on the back burner for the longest time, fearing it would interfere with jewelry and the work I am doing at school. More than anything, I’ve tried to put the “craft” first and business second. Well, vintage and thrifting and shopping in general aren’t really a “craft” that I have to study, they’re things that I do anyhow. Oftentimes thrifting for me is more of a relaxing vacation from my stresses than anything else so it’s never felt like much in the way of work. I was simply waiting for the right time (now?) and the right way to sell. Jewelry is still my #1 priority at the moment so I knew selling vintage would have to be a) convenient and b) fun. Well, here you have it! Bored of Trade was the perfect opportunity to sell vintage without investing a ton of extra time. AND, my accompanying etsy site will for the time being focus on things that are easy for me to photograph, post and store in my home. Most of my vintage clothing finds will be sold in a boutique (read: MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT FORTHCOMING) that I could not be more thrilled to work with.
For now, visit the new J2 Vintage esty shop and check out the awesome things I have posted!
Also, special thanks to Lindsay (lindso) for all of the encouragement and approval of my thrifted finds.
AND super special thanks to the lovely, adorable, ever so sweet Elizabeth Graeber for designing my logo and business cards for the new shop!
